We are very excited to have the opportunity to breed Likah to Kamikaze. They met in Texas at the 2013 GRCA National Specialty and their mannerisms, temperament and personality was very similiar. Both Kaze & Likah were easy going with adolescent goldens, playful with puppies, gentle but tons of drive to retrieve and calm & relaxed around people in new environments.
Our goal for this breeding is to produce wonderful family hunting companions that can excel in any venue. The pedigree is a wonderful blend of top field competitors, conformation, obedience, agility and tracking dogs.
Likah is the daughter of the last Golden in the US to obtain All Age field trial points an AKC Show Championship in 30 years "Sabre" (visit Sabre's website page), She obtained her Can Tracking Championship by passing back to back Urban Tracking Dog Excellent tests - the only Golden in Canada to accomplish this!! For information on Likah, please visit "Likah's Page" on this website.
Many of Likah's pups by "Trooper" (The Firefighter & Brewster Litter) are excelling in field events and hunting! Including MH, HRCH before 3 years of age and a Derby placement. Her offspring are all listed on k9data http://www.k9data.com/offspring.asp?ID=240899
This is what Laura Weinmann (his owner) has to say about Kamikaze....
Kamikaze is three things: - 1) An Exceptional Hunting Partner. My husband already feels that he will never own another working dog like him – Kamikaze just gets what hunting is all about. - 2) An Awesome Competition Dog – he loves hunt tests and trials and always comes alive at the line - 3) A Fantastic Family Member – he is a joy to have in our household and I thank Molly Schlachter for producing him. He is my heart dog. I love him more and more every day. A friend told me once that someday I would love Kamikaze more than I could ever imagine and I didn’t understand at the time as Kamikaze was young and had so much to learn and to teach me. Now I understand and I am thankful every day for my friend’s wisdom.
Kamikaze is my first Master Hunter dog and it was been an incredible ride so far – including being a finalist in the 2011 Master National, becoming QAA at our first Q field trial and earning a JAM at the 2012 Golden National Qualifying Stake – all by 5 years of age. Kamikaze is completely amateur trained and handled. He has 24 Master level passes with only local campaigning as well as earning additional Qualifying trial placements in 2013. Kamikaze is a great marker and very biddable at the line in competition, He is confident – running with style and is always a team player. He gives me the most wonderful readable signs telling me he knows what he is doing all the time – so I can relax. Kamikaze will run for anyone – proven when after only one day of training together – an amateur handler friend completed a master test with him during Hurricane Irene. I am still getting feedback from the judges about his enormous courage on the water in high wind. As a hunting dog he has tremendous quartering skill and very outspoken body language when on a bird. He hunts all fall with our extended family members who do not even own dogs – a true testament to his biddability – we can send him out with anyone and they have success and very few lost birds. He comes out happy everyday – ready to hunt, train, hike or play.
Kamikaze is an easy dog to train – always attentive and eager to run. He handles correction very well. He is a good water dog – goes in honest and strong and gets his work done. As he has matured I see a better and bigger water attitude – making consistent good decisions about staying in or out of the water. He runs amazing blinds – taking great initial lines and carrying casts for enormous distances fighting factors with great confidence.
Kamikaze has perfect Golden temperament. He is a typical male Golden “mush” around people – it is not enough to be touching him – you must be scratching, massaging or at least petting or he will wiggle all over you until you are. He is a wonderful full-time house dog, a great beggar and pre-washer of dishes. He has no issues with other males and is respectful of females. He wishes I was into competitive obedience as he would be a star there too. He is a natural attention heeler and eager to please all the time.
Kamikaze’s pedigree is full of proven working/performance dogs – his three generation vertical pedigree includes the following titles: 8 QAA dogs – some with FC/AFC points, 5 with field trial placements, 11 Master Hunters, 5 Senior Hunters, an OTCH and 3 other advanced obedience titles, 13 bench champions and numerous JH and CD titled relatives as well. His paternal pedigree has dogs that prove working dogs can be and can produce exceptionally well built and good looking -including his CH MH UD grandfather “Presley” and his CH SH father “Spirit”. His maternal pedigree brought the natural working and top notch marking ability with “Steeler”, “Maverick”, “Ki”, and “Pardner”. He truly has a proven pedigree.
Physically he is very athletic – spectacular to watch working. Kamikaze’s attitude, energy level, and looks remind me greatly of his maternal uncle “Ticket”. Structurally he is very handsome and moderate in all regards. I was encouraged to send him out to be finished in the breed ring but selfishly did not wish to give up the training or real hunting time. He has balanced conformation and strong movement, level topline, muscular loin and good foot timing. His front assembly is good, his rear is very strong with good tail set and carriage. His head is masculine with good stop, deep muzzle and balanced backskull. He usually has a serious expression except when he is returning with his last bird – then you can see the calm smile behind the bird. Kamikaze has a dark eye, full and correct dentition and great feet. He has no skin issues and his coat is completely wash and wear – super straight. He has adequate coat and furnishings – very much a product of his environment. He stays in condition easily and maintains a working weight of 69-71 pounds all the time and stands 23 ¾ “.
