Carmen is an easy keeper with great work ethic, good off switch in the house, very outgoing personality, good desire to please, tons of play and prey drive and an endless sense of humor. She is a physically and mentally strong female best described as a tom boy. When it's time to work, she is serious and focussed and when it's play or "just be a dog time" she adjusts and can settle easily.
Carmen is a wonderful hunting companion with an amazing nose and a beautiful natural quarterer. She is also a strong waterfowl hunter, patiently quiet while waiting for the action to happen and can handle the Greater Canada Geese.
Carmen has a wonderful Golden temperament, very loving and content, comes to get her pats or cuddles but she is not needy. She is always excited to meet and greet adults or children and is known for her smile. With other dogs Carmen is playful and trustworthy, other dogs respect her and she was a wonderful Aunt to Gin & Dega. She lives with 2 other intact females and 1 young intact male. As a baby puppy Carmen was "red girl", very intense, busy and a lot to handle. At just 8 weeks she was focussed and retrieving like a much older puppy so we held her back till the right home came along. There are a couple of youtube videos below when she was 8 and 10 weeks and her name was then Karma. Carmen is also an escape artist and has a habbit of being houdini with crates, climbing fences or opening gates to have dog parties. She hates to be left out, loves to be the center of the fun whether work or play. Her speed, focus, eye contact and love of obstacles would also make her a good candidate for an agility and/or obedience career. We are so honored to have her in our lives, she always plays and makes me laugh and definitely inherited her dam's wicked cheeky sense of humor. She really reminds me of her dam Likah.
Carmen's puppy home and training was with Susan Shearer & Gary Randall for Canadian Field Trials. Carmen & Susan made the "Top 10 Junior" Field Trial list in Canada in 2016. She easily earned her Am WC (Working Certificate), Can JH (Junior Hunter) & Can WC (Working Certificate). This little girl definitely has wheels (speed on retrieves) can mark and doesn't hesitate on long water retrieves. She has a natural fast bird pick up , quiet on the line and very focussed on her marks, she can pick out long guns. We are working on her lining & handling and she is training very well, everyday is a great journey with Carmen. We entered our first Can Field Trial in the fall of 2017 after a busy year with family and she earned her first QUAL Jam. The only thing holding this girl back is the time and consistency I can put into her training.

Carmen is just shy of 21"at the whithers and 57 lbs. She possesses a very quick dry coat that sheds dirt and burrs easily, ample undercoat and moderate feathering. Honestly by the time you find a towel, she has shaken the water off her coat! She has a very solid athletic build, good front and is light on her feet (jumps effortlessly). Her expression is very pleasing with dark eyes that are very expressive, scissors bite, full dentition and nice pigment.
For pictures and videos, please scroll down. There are a couple when she was 8 & 10 weeks old (aka Karma) and a couple training in the field.
We are planning to breed Carmen to Jolly in early 2020.
