Both Magic & Kikki have an OFA Hip Clearances - Magic OFA Good & Kikki is OFA Fair (with 4 out of 4 of her littermates recieiving Good or Excellent). Kikki has OFA Normal Elbows and Magic was not screened for elbows during the 80's and had no front end lameness into his old age (15). Kikki has a Current clear CERF Eye Exam (within 12 months with no breeder's options) & Magic's last CERF Eye Exam was clear (no breeder options in 1987). Both Magic & Kikki have Heart clearances by a Board Certified Cardiologist and normal thyroid function (Kikki has an OFA thyroid clearance). They have had no seizures or other auto-immune disorders. Kikki has no skin issues or allergies while Magic was on allergy medication while living in Oklahoma -he did not produce it with any progeny that is owner was ever aware of. Kikki is PRA-prcd Clear, PRA-1 Clear and an ICT Carrier. Optigen DNA tests were not available during Magic's lifetime.

This is a once in a lifetime breeding for us using frozen semen from 1985 back to a dog that is the Grandson of the breed's last US Dual Champion "Quar" (Dual CH AFC Tigathoe's Funky Farquar OS DDHF FDHF). Magic's sire Marker was a top winning show Golden of his time. Kikki's pedigree is also a unique blend of top field competitors in their time, obedience and conformation dogs. Some of the influential dogs in her pedigree include Kikki's grandfather "Pardner" AFC FC Tangelo's Side Kick with 130 1/2 All Age FT points, the highest point Golden in US Field Trials in history plus his son "Riley" Emberain Better Believe It MH WCX *** who earned 13 All Age Points in only 15 trials lifetime and won the Open at the GRCA 1995 National and her grandsire on the dam's side "Rooster" earned 50 Master passes lifetime, UD and All Age Qualified. There is really good longevity in direct descendants in this pedigree and a very low inbreeding COI. "Magic was the dog of a lifetime: A confident and a natural retriever. He had a wonderful temperament, very tolerant and loved puppies and children. He was my best friend for close to 16 years, family member and a solid hunting companion - hunting pheasant for a local guide. One of the highlights of my life was to take him in the ring at the Central Regional Specialty and take BOB in some tough competition owner handled:

“The Best of Breed competition provided some of the nicest specials that I have seen. All were in excellent condition, and had good head type, structure, and movement. The three dog specials that I moved to the front of the line were very uniform in head, angulation, coat and condition. My selection of CH Birnam Wood’s Power Play WC as Best of Breed was based on overall balance and beautiful movement. It turns out that this dog was the son of one of the other two dogs that was in my cut for final consideration. Best of Winners went to my Winners Dog, and Best of Opposite Sex went to a lovely specials bitch, Ch. Asterling Tahiti Sweetie.
